After graduating from North Carolina State University’s MLA program, Dan joined STUDIO39 in 2002. He gained early exposure to Landscape Architecture while growing up at a botanic garden designed and constructed by his father, an internationally renowned horticulturist. He was intrigued by the many opportunities the field of landscape architecture creates in being able to incorporate the knowledge of plants with the built environment. For Dan, the most exciting aspect of landscape architecture is being able to utilize new stormwater management techniques and transform them into water based amenities. To be able to reduce the impacts to the environment while creating an aesthetic, educational, and functional designed space is something that he finds extremely rewarding. Clients appreciate Dan’s ability to creatively solve site specific challenges, his ability to work well with other disciplines, and his responsiveness to their concerns.
