This weeks Plant of the Week is the Blue Star, or (Amsonia Hubrichtii).  This bluestar  is a very resistant perennial that is native to the Ouachita Mountains in central Arkansas. The Blue Star is exceptionally soil-adaptive, and resistant to insects and diseases, which makes it a great plant for the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. This plant is known for its beautiful transition of color from Spring through fall.  During the Spring it sports blue flowers, then feathery green summer foliage and finally a gorgeous golden fall color. This species was named after Leslie Hubricht who first discovered it growing in the wild in the early 1940s.
